Lionel Ward Abbott
Private Lionel Ward Abbott (H-35970) served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during World War II. Born on November 28, 1921, he enlisted at Camp Shilo, Manitoba, on December 3, 1942, and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. For his honorable wartime service, he was awarded the France and Germany Star, as well as the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was honorably discharged upon demobilization on March 13, 1946. Following his post-war civilian life in Winnipeg, he passed away on April 25, 1991, at the age of 69.
