Jules Roland Allard

Rifleman Jules Roland Allard (H617255) served in the Canadian Army with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during World War II. Born in Baie Saint-Paul, Manitoba, on October 2, 1920, he enlisted on January 26, 1944, and served active duty in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe, taking part in the Normandy Landing. For his wartime service, he was awarded the 1939-45 Star and the France and Germany Star. Following demobilization, he was honorably discharged on June 11, 1946. Returning to civilian life, he farmed in Lido Plage and Saint-François-Xavier, served his community on local school and agricultural boards, and was a direct descendant of Louis Riel. He passed away on February 23, 2000, at the age of 79.
