Herman Wilfred Berriault
Private Herman Wilfred Berriault (B-70073) was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, on January 24, 1918. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 21, 1941, serving as a Medic with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (R.C.A.M.C.) during World War II. Over the course of his military service in Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Continental Europe, he provided vital medical support to active infantry forces. Following his discharge on December 13, 1945, Private Berriault returned home to Penetanguishene, where he married his wife, Cecilia Alida Berriault, and raised a family. He passed away on December 21, 1981, at the age of 63. His service and Métis heritage were formally commemorated by the Métis Veterans Legacy Program during a ceremony held for his family and surviving spouse at Bayfield House Retirement Lodge.
