Frank Joseph Bruce (Joseph Francois Wilfrid Bruce)
Sub-Lieutenant Frank Joseph Bruce (Official Number V-83592) was a Métis World War II Veteran born on September 17, 1925, in St. Laurent, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (RCNVR) at HMCS Chippawa, serving as a naval serviceman during the Second World War. Following his military service, he returned home to Manitoba and married Marcelline Lauzon on September 25, 1948, at St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church. A lifelong resident of St. Laurent, Veteran Bruce passed away at home on December 10, 2001, at the age of 76. He was commemorated through the Métis Veterans Legacy Program with a Recognition Payment presented to his surviving spouse, Marcelline Bruce, on August 17, 2020.
